At Karingal Green, we want our residents to experience truly holistic care, in an environment where every person’s physical, emotional, financial, social and spiritual wellbeing has been attended to.
With a team of passionate and caring professionals, it’s the staff who make a difference when it comes to your loved-one being in safe hands. We want to highlight our care team and emphasise their compassion and dedication, and most importantly the faces our residents know and love. We sat down with one of our newest employees, Adele, to talk about what makes working at Karingal Green so special.

Adele’s journey
Adele is employed as a companion. She previously worked at a primary school for children with special needs, and, 12 years later decided she needed a change and went back to study her Certificate III in Aged Care. She first got a job at Hall & Prior’s Belmont Nursing Home, then two years later landed an admin position. Even though she loved being part of the industry, she knew that helping people was her true calling.. It was then that Adele discovered there was a companion position open at Karingal Green.
Adele was motivated to join our team after hearing good things about the team at Karingal Green and and our approach to modern aged care living, Adele has now been a companion for three months; a companion gives our residents emotional support and friendship. With loneliness and social isolation becoming a prominent issue for those in aged care, a companion is a powerful way to give our residents support, as a friend, a confidant and a support person. There to play a board game with, share meals with, tell stories to, or get involved in activities happening around the home. A companion provides meaningful human connection and are popular amongst our residents love company.
Adele’s typical day
Adele starts her day by handing out newspapers and wishing everyone a good morning. With six companion visits in a day, Adele will go and check-in with her residents to arrange a time that suits them for that day, then begins her first visit, which can take up to an hour. Once she’s with them they plan how they want to spend their time, it could be walking around our beautiful gardens or enjoying a cup of coffee and a chat. She also helps residents with projects, one of her most memorable was setting up an outdoor garden on a balcony and helping spray paint an upside-down bird bath for birds to come and enjoy.
“I love my job as I get to help make each of my people feel special, safe and loved. To let them know they have a friend that listens to them whenever they need makes me feel like I give them a purpose.” Adele said.
In her spare time she loves spending time with her two beautiful granddaughters and creating special memories as they grow-up.
We love having Adele as part of the Karingal Green team and our residents look forward to her weekly visits.
